I bought this rod intended for bigger fish, close quarters bass, open water red fish, and of course the carp on Bull Sluice Lake.

Reel:
Lamson Konic
This is a fantastic reel for the 8wt. Very smooth and very nice drag.
For the 5wt I got a cheapo White River, but it performs well and handles the mud.
Waders:
Frogg Toggs Hellbender
These got great reviews everywhere i read. Not too expensive. Have used all season and no leaks. Very comfortable. 6'2" 200 lbs and a L is plenty.
Boots:
Korkers Redside Wading Boots.
These have perfomed extremely well this year. I like being able to replace soles as necessary.
